2025 was one of the most brutal years for celebrity breakups, with beloved couples like Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Nina Dobrev and Shaun White, and Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade all severing their unions. But 2026 isn’t shaping up to be much better either.
We’re not even halfway through the year, and we’ve already witnessed some of the messiest breakups and divorces that Hollywood has ever seen. Some of these couples seemed so perfect on screen that no one saw the split coming, while some others made it clear that the dissolution had been brewing for some time now. Either way, here are some of the messiest celebrity splits of 2026 so far:
Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson
As far as celebrity breakups go, this one takes the cake. With allegations of cheating made by the rapper against her NBA beau, this breakup comes nearly a year after the couple became Instagram official. The couple seemed to be in love, with the Mavericks star naming his boat SS Stallion after his now-ex-girlfriend, and the rapper spending Thanksgiving with his family and cooking with them, as seen in a now-deleted video she posted to her social media.
The Grammy-winning rapper and songwriter said in a statement to Billboard, “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity, and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Mikayla Nogueira & Cody Hawken

You love her, or you hate her, but there’s no denying the fact that Mikayla Nogueira knows how to grab your attention. In a now-infamous video where she urged fans to “sit down”, the beauty influencer revealed that she had split from her husband, Cody Hawken, two years after tying the knot in a brand-sponsored Instagram wedding.
In the video, Mikayla says, “We love each other so much—we would do anything literally for each other.” The breakup came after an alleged alcohol relapse, but rumors have circulated about the sordid state of their marriage.
Desmond and Kristy Scott

Fans of the influencer couple Desmond and Kristy Scott were left reeling when the news of the couple’s split broke in early January. Anyone who’s watched their videos knows that they seemed like the perfect couple, the best representation of opposites attract, with Kristy’s chaotic energy and Desmond’s calm and patient temperament. They tied the knot back in 2014 and are parents to two young boys. The couple even built their dream home shortly before their split, every moment of which was shared online for their adoring followers to witness.
So it was no surprise that fans were shocked to learn that Kristy had filed for divorce, allegedly citing infidelity as the reason. Needless to say, this is one sticky situation, as the couple had built their following by portraying themselves as the perfect family online.
Jessi Draper and Jordan Ngatikaura

Stars of the reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Jessi Draper and Ngatikaura, announced their divorce filing in March 2026. The split comes after five years of marriage and a recent purchase of a $2.5 million home.
While an official statement made by Jordan stated, “This has not been an easy decision, and it comes with a heavy heart. I’m grateful for the shared memories and the lessons. While our paths are now moving in different directions, my priority remains my children and ensuring they feel loved, supported, and protected through this transition,” he alleges that Jessi cheated on him with fellow reality star Maricano Brunette. Jessi, for her part, alleges that the affair was never physical, only emotional, and made allegations of emotional abuse, blackmail, and surveillance during her marriage against her estranged husband. Phew, can you say messy!
Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle
Tennis star Taylor Fritz and influencer Morgan Riddle have been dating for about six years, and right about when fans were expecting an engagement announcement, they were shocked to learn about the couple’s breakup.
The couple was beloved by fans, so much so that the New York Times dubbed Morgan the “most famous woman in men’s tennis”. Their relationship was filled with cute Instagram posts, game appearances, and even a tennis doc featuring both of them. Rumors of the split started circulating in April 2026, with the confirmation seemingly coming from Morgan herself in an Instagram post featuring a new handbag, captioned “make breakups fun again”.
Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini
Messy breakups are one thing, but Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini’s relationship was pretty messy even when they were together. The Outer Banks star and the country singer were together for almost 3 years, but they spent much of that time breaking up and getting back together. The couple made a number of red carpet appearances, where they seemed so in love. And then there were the podcast confessions and thinly-veiled social media posts during their times “off”. As of February 2026, though, it seems they have ended things for good, and for everyone involved, we hope it stays that way!
Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos
Weeks before they were set to tie the knot in a picturesque wedding in Lake Como, Italy, Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos called the entire thing off. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback and his fiancée have been together for a while and are parents to two children, Margaret Jane Rose and Aurora Rayne.
While an official statement from a rep read “There wasn’t any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up. It was a mutual decision. They love their girls, and they’re committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way. It’s still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out.” The reason for the split is said to be far messier.
Allegedly, Ramos discovered that her now ex-fiancé had been sending “inappropriate” messages to other women, including several “ex-flings”, according to Page Six.
Ali Wong and Bill Hader
After 2 years of dating, the comedian couple went their separate ways. Reportedly, professional commitments made it harder for them to spend time together and work on their relationship, with Ali going on a stand-up tour and Bill busy with various TV and film projects.
As far as messy breakups go, this one is pretty mild, and the couple is said to remain friends and still support each other.
